9 days and a wake up!
We’re down to single digits!
What a miserable last couple of days I’ve had. When we left Panama, I was feeling fine (a little hung-over still, but that’s it). Tuesday morning I woke up with a sore thought that, through the course of the day, became a stuffy nose and congested head. Wednesday I had developed a fever and a terrible dry cough. And the stuff coming out of my nose was florescent green. Thankfully I only had to stand an hour or so of my watches during this time since a few guys took pity on me and relieved me. I woke up this morning around 1 AM and felt 100% better. My fever was gone and my nose wasn’t running as much. I still have the cough, which is pretty annoying, but it’s better than the rest of the stuff I had.
I wore a mask that the Doc gave me and carried hand sanitizer with me and wiped stuff down with alcohol wipes that I had to use. Hopefully I didn’t spread my disease around too much, but it is definitely spreading through the ship (I wasn’t the only one who came down with it initially). Hopefully it will all clear out by the time we get home.
I am waving good-by to Panama for the last time. We are on our final stretch of deployment with just two weeks left until we get home. Everyone is starting to get antsy, and my biggest challenge now is keeping everyone’s attention to getting the ship home safely, not home & family. Which is hard since that’s all I want to think about too.
Thanks for the packages!
Everyone is already enjoying the magazines (thanks Rob, Jason & Presston!) and we’ve already started using the coffee.
Thanks Ma!
20 days until I’m home!
So our extremely slow internet connection has now been cut in half. We went from 128 mbs (for the whole ship), to 64 mbs. No one knows why they did it, but that’s what we have for the foreseeable future.
In connection with this issue, please don’t send my any more pictures or attachments. They will only clog up what little connection we have. That also means that I won’t be able to post any more pictures to my blog or Facebook.
My last trip to Costa Rica is over, we are back underway continuing our last month of deployment.
I’m currently sitting in an outdoor bar in Costa Rica. My shirt is soaked and I can’t stop sweating. It is SOOOOOO HOT! Just a simple breeze right now would be such a huge relief! All we can do is drink beer to cool us off
We’re down to the last month! Only 30 days left! Woooo Hooooo!
